Description:
Possible relative of Rurik. Was asked to raise Rurik's son Igor.Quoted to say of Kiev: "Let this be the mother of Russian cities!"
Subjugated several Slavic tribes to Kiev's rule. Possibly attacked Constantinople in 907. It is know he did treaty with Byzantium in 911, where he is referred to as "Grand Prince of Russia." Died of a snake bite.
