Chapter Master Balduran the Swine (jan 1, 33775 – jan 1, 34641)

Description:

775.M33 - Born on Goodrach (the actual year of Balduran's birth is unknown, as his family were part of an isolated community, without a developed calendar system, but this is the approximate date).

791.M33 - Recruited to the Sons for excellence in the mock war (which he had no knowledge of before being taken to partake in it).

Although at the time his astartes modifications seemed to have worked normally, it was later discovered that his genetics had clashed with the geneseed in a way which allowed him to build body fat. In his later years this did result in him becoming quite fat, hence the moniker, 'the Swine'.

811.M33 - Initiated into the 9th as a full battle brother

832.M33 - Graduated to the 2nd company

882.M33 - Became sgt at 107

970.M33 - Became 2nd lt at 195

996.M33 - Became 2nd cpt at 221

000.M34 - Became honour cpt at 225

090.M34 - Balduran 'the Swine' is appointed as the 5th chapter master of the Sons of the Righteous at 315

In his time as chapter master, Balduran is responsible for developing the recreational culture of the chapter massively, as well as encouraging proper treatment of wards and serfs. After his experience during the turn of the heinous sons he placed great importance on brotherhood and communal identity. He took inspiration from his childhood and the Space Wolves (as his research had taught him that they had never had any issue with traitors). Now, the Sons would feast together in great halls, they would drink and make merriment. This also provided an ideal environment for the chapter's propensity towards storytelling to flourish. The serf culture developed similarly, and a big impact on this was the focus on their proper treatment. During 'the turn' a huge portion of serfs and wards betrayed their masters and many marines died as a result. Those who were loyal (and whose descendants made up the current serving population) had fought and died alongside the astartes for years. Their masters had respected and trusted them, and this new relationship is the basis for the chapter serf culture to this day.
