Peloponnesian war (jan 1, 431 BC – jan 1, 404 BC)
Description:
The Peloponnesian war was fought between Athens and Sparta, the two leading city-states within Ancient Greece, with most of the conflict occurring in Peloponnesus. The war had begun dew to conflict prior to the war between Sparta and Athens during the reforms of Cleisthenes in which Sparta had opposed. While the conflict had begun before the war, the main reason for the Peloponnesian war was due to Athen’s lead within the Delian league, causing resentment from other Greek city-states alongside with Sparta’s rebellion. The Peloponnesian war ended with Sparta’s victory while the aftermath of the war led the Greek military and economy to be weakened, alongside the divided relationships between Greek city-states as they were no longer under the Delian League.
