Also known as the ‘Age of Pericles’ refers to Pericles’ role as an Archon (ruler) in Athens. Pericles primarily promoted the arts to strengthen Athenian culture and it is often stated that it was Pericles’ efforts that allowed Athens to be renowned for its education and culture.
