Formation of the Delian League (jan 1, 126 BC – jan 1, 117 BC)
Description:
The Delian league was a military alliance against any potential enemies that may threaten the Ionian Greeks. The league was led by Athens as the Athenians had the most powerful nvy and was able to protect surrounding Greek city-states. The Delian League was formed as a form of protection against Persia as it was formed after the Persian War and as a punishment on Persia for it’s past invasions while strengthening Greek alliances and defences against any potential threat. However, the Delian league had caused animosity within Greek city-states and Athens as they had been designated as the leader of the Delian league.
