Description:
Themistocles was elected Archon in 493 BC. He fought in the Battle of Marathon as a General. When he became Archon, he focused on the expansion of Athenian Sea power. Under his rule, he created a new port which would aid in the expansion of Athenian naval might for the future of Athens.
