Peloponessian War (jan 1, 431 BC – jan 1, 404 BC)

Description:

This war was between two Greek city states, Athens and Sparta. The war was suspected to have occurred to the increase in tensions between Sparta and Athens, Sparta was afraid that Athens was advancing very quickly in the development of new ships as they may use these in battle against them. The war ended in 404 BC when Sparta received financial aid from Persia and was able to destroy the Athenian fleet at Aegospotami.
