Mycenae and the Mycenaen civilization occurred in stages around 1200 B.C. to 1100 BCE. Mycenae's people abandoned the citadel around 100 years later after a series of fires. Traditional accounts theorized that the Mycenaean centres were destroyed by invadingDorian invaders, but archaeological evidence now seems to point to a range of factors, including drought, harvest failure, epidemics, foreign invasion, disruption of trade.
