Babur's grandson; made centralized administrative structure w/ ministries regulating provinces; campained(took Gujarat+Bengal); Began 2 absorb recently defeated Hindu kingdom(Vijayanagar)pursued religious toleration; tried 2 reduced tensions b/w muslims+hindus; attempted 2 blend religions -> syncretic religion called "divine faith"(inspo: Sikhs), focused on emperor as ruler of all groups of India; stopped jizya tax(reinstituted by Aurangzeb(1659))
