The Wright Brothers and Aviation (dec 17, 1903 – dec 17, 1903)
Description:
The Wright Brothers were from Dayton, Ohio. The brothers love for aviation started as young boys when they received a toy model helicopter from their father in 1878. They were highly involved in different scientific research and mechanical projects which were inspired by the German aviator Otto Lilienthal. After Lilienthal died in a glider crash, the brothers were inspired to start experimenting with aviation. This led to the first free, controlled flight of a power-driven, "heavier-than-air" plane. While the brothers originated from Ohio, the first flight took place Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
