Erie Canal (jan 1, 1817 – feb 16, 1832)
Description:
The Erie Canal was a man-made canal that linked New York's Hudson River with Lake Erie. Because of this canal being made, Ohio decided to link Lake Erie with the Ohio river. This started in 1825. It took 7 years total to build the canal ranging 308 miles from Lake Erie to the Ohio River. It was mainly built by Irish and German immigrants. This canal through Ohio would open in 1832
