Description:
Thousands of angry women, protesting shortages of bread and economic injustice, marched on Versailles and called for the royal family to relocate to Paris. In bringing the monarchy closer to the revolutionaries in the capital, this event furthered the influence of the National Assembly and hastened the pace of reforms.
