-Short info: Karl Marx was een Duitse denker die veel invloed had op de (politieke) filosofie, de economie en sociologie. Hij was een grondlegger van de arbeidersbeweging en centrale figuur in de geschiedenis van het socialisme en het communisme.
-Marxism
-Marx thought capitalism was an unjust form of society (it caused a bad quality of live for the lower class for example), therefore he wanted the proletariat (the lower, working class) to revolt against the bourgeoisie (which controlled the means of production). This would eventually lead to a classless, communist society in which there was no private (capitalistic) ownership of means of production anymore.
-Inspired by Hegel's dialectics; the development of history due to tensions between opposites that react to one another --> sudden change. Marx: Economic forces in society, material ones drive historical development.
