Reign of King Rehoboam
931-913 BC (jan 1, 931 BC – jan 1, 913 BC)
Description:
King Rehoboam reigned over the Southern Kingdom (Judah).
King Rehoboam led Judah to do what was evil in the sight of the LORD, leading them astray and building high places to worship, as well as completely wanting to live and lead the life of Judah in the way that he wanted, rather that in the way of the LORD (1 Kings 14:21-24; 2 Chron 12:1).
One could argue that he started out good, as in 2 Chronicles 11:17 implies, however I believe that 2 Chronicles 12:1 gives a more in-depth of King Rehoboam's heart. He wanted to do the things in the way of the Law, but once his kingdom was established, he was ready to go full swing into how he wanted to run his kingdom how he saw fit.
