Legal Abortion (jan 1, 1700 – jan 1, 1880)

Description:

When the colonies were first established, abortion was allowed and even very commonly practiced. Many women would turn to abortion if they got pregnant when unmarried. Women could not own their own land or do much of anything without the approval of a man, specifically a husband or father. It is important because abortion rights were allowed for over a century within the colonies.
