The invention of the Spinning Jenny (+1) (jan 1, 1720 – jan 1, 1720)
Description:
The Spinning Jenny, crated by James Hargreaves, is a critical innovation in the textile industry that further advanced the Industrial Revolution. It consisted of a row of spindles arranged on a sliding carriage moved by a hand crank. As the carriage moved, the spindles twisted the fibers into yarn. This process made textile production more efficient, leading to significant economic growth and increased output of textiles. However, like other early industrial innovations, it did not immediately translate into improved working conditions or broader societal progress, as factory conditions remained harsh for laborers.
