Coffee (jan 1, 800 – 22h 6min, jun 5, 2026 y)

Description:

Wild coffee plants are thought to have been native to Ethiopia. One legend goes that a goatherd was puzzled by the behavior of his goats, so he tried the berries they were feeding on and discovered coffee. Eventually, the plant traveled to Arabia. Sufi monks were amongst the first to brew coffee, using the simulation to pray throughout the entire night. Coffeehouses became extremely popular meeting places where educated men gathered to converse, play games, smoke, and drink. Coffee was especially popular in Turkey, and the spread of the Ottomans introduced the beverage to many others. Through trade, coffee spread rapidly throughout Europe, and through colonization, around the world.
