Osman Gazi (jan 1, 1258 – jan 1, 1324)

Description:

Osman the first was the ruler of a Turkemn principality in northwestern Anatolia. He is regarded as the founder of the Ottoman Turkish state, which's name was derived from the Arabic form of his name (Uthman). Osman’s father, Ertugal, had established a principality centered on Sogut. Based there, Osan and the Muslim warrior under his command waged conflict against the Byzantines and he gradually extended his control over several former Byzantines fortresses. He was succeeded by his son Ohan who was able to capture Bursa in 1326.
