A prominent Egyptian scholar and historian known for his expertise in Hadith and historical writing. He was a disciple of the famous Hadith scholar Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani. Al-Sakhawi’s most famous work is Al-Daw' al-Lami' (The Shining Light), a biographical dictionary of scholars of his time.
