D. Afonso Henriques tries to expand aggressively, ends up losing Leiria and Tomar (jan 1, 1136 – jan 1, 1140)

Description:

By 1136, D. Afonso Henriques had picked fights with the Moors, invaded Galicia multiple times, and defeated the Leonese troops in in the Battle of Cerneja with his Portuguese army.

Realizing Henriques' temporary weakness, the Moors invaded the south of Portucalense, taking over the areas of Leiria and Tomar. Henriques has to give up fighting in the north to defend against the Moors.

In 1137, D. Afonso Henriques and Afonso VII agreed to the accords of the Peace of Tuy, restoring some of Henriques' conquered lands.
