Througatos I
'the Conqueror'
85 years (jan 2, 5512 – jan 1, 5597)
Description:
Founding the Dráchanathair (literally 'Diamond-Blooded') one year after his coronation, an elite unit of royal guards from loyal noble families serving as the Arsynérix's small personal army, Througatos allied himself with the Iorádhine nations most affected by Attişian slave raids to counter the power of the nobility that rivalled him, and spent his early reign curtailing their power by restoring, reforming and restructuring the Iorináreth's military.
In the middle of his reign, while slowly clawing back imperial authority from the Thirteen Nations, Througatos led a successful invasion of the Kingdom of Sipsi after its King did not pay his debts to the Iorináreth. Using the wealth taken during the war, and the profits from selling the land he seized in Psiloha, he further funded the armies of the Iorináreth and the Dráchanathair Guard.
Througatos threatened the autonomy and power of the rulers of eastern Iorádh enough for them to launch a revolt against him, in the later years of his reign. The 'Great Eastern Rebellion', as it became called, was crushed after 5 years of Througatos' better organized forces repeatedly besting Artokian, Chathairic, Ïdirian, Eráldic and Ïdirnian forces on the battlefield.
Confiscating much of the eastern nobility's wealth, Througatos then used it to return funding to the welfare of the people, and used what remained to heavily fortify the coasts of western Iorádh, resulting in much less successful and less frequent Attişian slave raids.
He died of natural causes, and is considered the most militarily successful Arsynérix in the Iorináreth's history.
