CH Waddington (nov 8, 1905 – sep 26, 1975)

Description:

Conrad Hal Waddington was Professor
of Animal Genetics at the University of
Edinburgh from 1947 until his death in 1975.
During this time he was influential in the
expansion of the biological sciences at the
University. A creative and interdisciplinary
thinker, Waddington often applied scientific
techniques to art, architecture, politics and
the environment, including issues around
population, human settlement and future
planning.

With the latter in mind, Waddington
established the School for the Man-Made
Future at the University in 1972, although
his death cut short its full development. It
later became the Centre for Human Ecology,
now based in Glasgow.
