Ferdinand II of Aragon (1479-1516) (mar 10, 1452 – jan 23, 1516)

Description:

1452-1516 AD: Ferdinand II the Catholic was king of Aragon, Castile, Sicily, Naples, Valencia, Sardinia, and Navarre, and Count of Barcelona. His marriage to Isabella of Castile in 1469 united most of the Iberian Peninsula, paving the way for Spain's emergence as a significant power. Ferdinand succeeded his father as King of Aragon in 1479, uniting the crowns of Castile and Aragon. Together with Isabella, he completed the Reconquista by conquering Granada in 1492 and expelled Jews from Spain. Ferdinand was heavily involved in the Italian Wars, securing Naples from the French by 1504. After Isabella's death, he served as regent for his daughter Joanna until his own death in 1516.
