1238 - 1492 AD: The Emirate of Granada was an Islamic kingdom established in 1238 following the successful Reconquista and the conquest of Córdoba in 1236. The Emirate became a tributary state and was known as the Kingdom of Granada. The Nasrid emirs and kings built most of the Alhambra's palaces. For the next 250 years, Granada was a vassal state of the Christian kingdom of Castile. The Nasrid rulers paid tribute to the Christian kings and cooperated with them in battles against rebellious Muslim leaders under Castilian rule.Added to timeline:
