Gill Perry (aug 4, 1950 – jan 1, 2018)
Description:
Gillian Perry is professor of history of art at the Open University. She is a specialist in eighteenth century portraiture and has written two books on the actress in art.
Perry explains in her text about the differences between how Fauves and the Brucke thought about primitive artifacts, and the female nude in art. Primitive art offered a way for western artists to destroy the bourgeoise art, they are interested in the exotic lush world and also the shapes that can be found in primitive art. The emphasis was put more on reading the surface than the object.
