Edward Wadie Said (1 November 1935 – 25 September 2003) was a professor of literature at Columbia University, a public intellectual, and a founder of the academic field of postcolonial studies.
Orientalism:
- It is an academic term to express theories about the orient
- Distinction between orient and occident
- Western style for dominating reconstructing and having authority over the orient.
Orientalims cant be understood without their force being also understood. Its more a sign of western power over the Orient than it is also a discourse about the orient. The oriental world is emerged from the western ideas.
