Arthur Danto (jan 1, 1924 – oct 25, 2013)

Description:

Arthur Coleman Danto (January 1, 1924 – October 25, 2013) was an American art critic and philosopher. He is best known for having been influential, long-time art critic for The Nation and for his work in philosophical aesthetics and philosophy of history, though he contributed significantly to a number of fields, including the philosophy of action.

One of Danto's Theories which is based on hegels theory "Art is dead", there will be no more imitation of nature, because art explores it’s own identity. Art becomes Self-conscious. According to Danto it will become just theory and no longer something to pursuit of art's self-definition.
