Birth and Early Life
-Born Simon in Bethsaida, a fishing village on the Sea of Galilee.
-Brother of Andrew, also one of Jesus' apostles.

-Initially a fisherman by profession.
-Called to be a disciple by Jesus while fishing with his brother Andrew (Matthew 4:18-20).
-Renamed Peter (Cephas), meaning "rock," by Jesus (John 1:42).

-Recognized as a leading figure among the twelve apostles.
-Part of Jesus' inner circle, along with James and John.
