German-Soviet Non-aggression Pact (aug 23, 1939 – aug 24, 1939)

Description:

In 1939 Germany and the Soviet Union signed a non-aggression pact known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, agreeing not to attack each other, and dividing the countries between them. This document was signed by German Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop and Soviet Foreign Minister Vyacheslav Molotov. A major outcome of this pact was that Germany was able to capture Poland without Soviet interference, and Germany was able to avoid wars and attacks from the Soviet Union.
The Pact was dead on June 22, 1941, after Nazi Germany attacked the Soviet Union without warning. Romania and Poland’s borders were established after World War II that roughly followed the Pact’s agreements, then in 1989 the Soviet Union denied the existence of the secret agreement.
