Hitler becomes Fuhrer (jan 1, 1934 – jan 1, 1945)

Description:

The meaning of Fuhrer is an authoritarian leader, a title given to Adolf Hitler. Hitler came into power in 1933, he was appointed Chancellor of the Reich by the German President Paul von Hindenburg and was the leader of the Nazi Party. He was not ever elected directly to power, he initially merged chancellery with the presidency and became Fuhrer following the death of the president.

At the time, Germany was dealing with the loss of the Great War resulting in the empire collapsing and being replaced with a democratic government known as the Weimar Republic. Most of all, the great depression was a problem for the world and Germany included, the Weimar Republic became ineffective due to financial issues and Nazi Germany came into power. Nazi Germany and Hitler’s influence brought propaganda and disguised their political goals to deceive the public. Overall, Hitler’s plans were not as he stated them to be to the public, an example being the Holocaust. Nazi leadership often created fake allegations and propaganda of Jewish people spreading malicious lies and “atrocity stories” to justify their reasons to capture and kill millions of Jewish people. This also is the case when Hitler invaded Poland, with propaganda being spread that a Polish attack occurred on a German radio station.
