1812: "Ancient" Black Jews in India vs "Jerusalem" White Jews (jan 1, 1812 – jan 1, 1812)
Description:
Black Jews in India:
Their presence indicates they arrived many ages before the white Jews (Jerusalem Jews).
In Malabar, it was often difficult to distinguish a black Jew from a Hindu.
White Jews' Perspective:
White Jews viewed black Jews as an inferior race of impure stock.
"The resident Jews are divided into two classes called the Jerusalem or White Jews ; and the ancient or Black Jews. The White Jews reside at this place. The black Jews have also a Synagogue here"
