The Steam-Powered Locomotive (feb 21, 1804 – jan 1, 0)

Description:

This marks the date that the first practical steam-powered locomotive capable of pulling carriages was developed by Richard Trevithick. The steam-powered locomotive that he introduced went on to become the basis for how locomotives are used to transport goods and people quickly across long distances. As for this one, he boasted that he'd been able to carry several tons of cargo, five carriages, and around seventy men across nine miles in just over four hours with that one locomotive. While it may have been slow and small compared to today's standards, it allowed for today's standards to come to fruition.
