Also called the Christmas War, the Agacher Strip War was a five day war fought by Burkina Faso and Mali. The reason for the war's inception is due to the Agacher Strip itself, as Burkina Faso and Mali have disputed over the 100 mile strip of land since the 1960s. Mali forces launched an attack on Christmas Day of 1985, with responses quickly met by Burkina Faso soldiers until a ceasefire was called on the 30th of that same month, only 5 days later. As such, the Agacher Strip was to be divided amongst both countries followig the aftermath of the war.Added to timeline:
