Description:
Causes-
1. Germany was scared that the Soviets would attack, and then Germany wouldn’t been able to reach their goals.
2. The soviet Leader saw the agreement to keep his nation on mutual terms with Germany, giving his time to make sure the Soviet military maintained its strength and power.
3. Soviet leader Joseph Stalin viewed the pact to keep his nation on peaceful terms with Germany, while giving him time to build up the Soviet military.
Effects-
1. It led to an outbreak of World War 2 when Germany invaded the Soviet Union. By the end of the year, German troops had gotten miles out and then gotten to the border of Moscow.
2. Germany gave Hitler exactly what he wanted which was a clear path to attack Poland.
3. The German-Soviet non-aggression pact was to last 10 years.
4. Hitler's long-term strategy was for Germany to attack the Soviet Union and find living space for the Germans in the nations they had held.
5. Western Poland and a small part of Lithuania had been claimed by Germany.
6. Not even one month after Germany overcame France, Hitler Forced war against the Soviet Union. In July 1940.
7. It helped guide Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to invade and occupy Poland that September.
8. The pact was an agreement of convenience between two bitter enemies.
