Silk Road (jan 1, 0 – jan 1, 1453)

Description:

Established during the Han dynasty. (130 BCE)

Super cool because it spread so much culture, ideas, religion, languages, items, etc.
(Also spread the black death.. bubonic plague)

Under Mongol rule the silk road flourished, because they payed merchants more than they asked for, protected trade since the entire silk road was under one empire. This peace brought on by the mongols is known as Pax Mongolica.
