Abolition Movement (time period is a best guess) (jan 1, 1820 – feb 23, 1870)
Description:
Abolition was a social movement. It was a social movement to end slavery. It was not successful but eventually inspired the women's rights movement. In addition to ending slavery, it was geared towards ending segregation and discrimination. It was widely preached in Northern churches and was part of why there was such a regional separation during the Civil War.
