Dutch Revolt (feb 7, 1566 – feb 7, 1609)
Description:
A revolt of the Calvinists against their Spanish overlords, who were not friendly to their non-Catholic ideas.Spain won the first part (before 1579) and executed rebels.
The revolution restarted in earnest a bit after 1579 and a truce was formed 1609-1621; full independance was granted 1648.
