World War 1 (jul 14, 1914 – nov 11, 1918)

Description:

In Europe, several countries including (but not limited to) Germany, Austria-Hungary, France, Russia, Italy and Britain faced off in one of the largest wars in history. The United States didn't join immediately, as the war developed over time, but became a major force soon enough. (History.com 2009)

The US economy was heavily impacted. Women entered the workforce to compensate for the men out at war in many Western countries (History 2009). As of such, feminism and other social movements were seeded among the people, and would not be easily removed any time soon (until their desires were appeased). All around the world, in other ways, lives were impacted by the sheer devastation brought on by new war technologies of the early 20th century (History.com 2009).
