Trail of Tears (jan 1, 1830 – jan 1, 1838)

Description:

During this time period, acts were passed and forceful migrations took place to move Native Americans to a designated territory in the West. Many natives died on the journey, and culturally they suffered afterwards under further acts and attempts to assimilate them or to take the land reserved for them. (History.com 2009)

The entire country benefited economically, however, the atrocities of the settlers nearly wiped an entire set of cultures off the face of the Earth, leaving resentments on both side and guilt in the modern era.
