Ashanti-Ewe-Akposso Wars (jul 30, 1868 – oct 12, 1871)
Description:
The Ashanti-Akposso wars of 1869-1873, in particular, resulted in fully one third of the Akposso being either killed or driven into slavery to Kumasi. After the Ashanti defeat at the hands of Sir Wolseley in 1874, the Akposso started descending from their mountain retreats to reoccupy their foothill villages, a process further encouraged by the pacification of the area by the German administration of Togo.
