The 'National Association for the Advancement of Colored People' or NAACP was founded in 1909 and is working up to this day. Famous founding members of the NAACP were, among white progressives and other African Americans, W.E.B. Du Bois and Ida B. Wells. The NAACP's main agenda was the fight against racial violence and especially lynchings. But the organisation was also engaged in the battle against racial injustices in general. The organisation's declared goal was 'to achieve a fully integrated society with equal rights for all' through the judicial system, lobbying and peaceful protests as well as speeches.Added to timeline:
