The First Intifada (dec 8, 1987 – sep 8, 1993)
Description:
Spontaneous Palestinian protests break out in response to the deaths of 4 people caused by an Israeli military truck colliding with a civilian vehicle in Gaza. This outbreak coincides with economic turmoil experienced by Palestinians as well as the expansion of illegal Israeli settlements. Protests spread throughout the occupied territories, and are lagerly non-violent. These protests began to fade out after the signing of the first Oslo accords.
