Operation Peace for Galilee (jun 6, 1982 – jun 5, 1985)
Description:
In response to an attempted assassination of Israel's ambassador to the UK, Israel launches a military operation in Southern Lebanon which quickly becomes an all out invasion. While Israel faults the PLO with the attack, it was actually the Abu Nidal Organization, which opposes the PLO. By the end of the operation, the PLO forces in Lebanon are decimated and forced to into exile.Added to timeline:
