Description:
The Mexican-American War, fought between the United States and Mexico from 1846 to 1848, was triggered by disputes over territorial claims following the U.S. annexation of Texas. The war concluded with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, where Mexico ceded a large portion of its northern territories to the U.S., including what are now California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and parts of Colorado and New Mexico, significantly expanding U.S. territory.
