Description:
Gropius' design college in Berlin developed a style of design which stressed the beauty in technology, simple lines and craftsmanship.Under the Weimar government's freedom of speech and economic recovery, this flourished.
Communists said that government money should not be spent on extravagance when working people needed basic help. The nationalists and the Nazis said that the changes undermined traditional German culture.
