Iran hostage crisis (nov 4, 1979 – jan 20, 1981)

Description:

Following the ousting of the Shah ,Iranian students seized the US embassy in Tehran and detained more than 50 Americans as hostages. They held the American diplomats for 444 days. The Iranians demanded that the Shah be returned for execution. Jimmy Carter organized two failed invasions. On his last day in presidency he signed the Algiers Accords and the hostages returned the US the day after. To today there is not a embassy in for the US in Iran and vise versa.
