Description:
 It was Geman war plans in particular that played a crucial role in the events leading to the Great war. Germany's fear of encirclement encouraged its military planners to devise a strategy that would avoid a war on two fronts. It was based on a strategy developed in 1905 by General Count Alfeed von Schlieffen (1833-1913). The plan called for a swift attack on France, followed by defensive action against Russia,
