- Rome falls

4/18/45: Mussolini is captured and executed by the Italians
- hung in a public square by his heels
- Italians did not like him because he was a fascist --> some Italians were communists but did not like fascism

Italy joins the Allies and declares war on Germayn

US creates a new government in Italy
