France Falls (sep 1, 1940 – nov 11, 1940)

Description:

- At first France & Britain play the defensive & don't invade Germany to avoid the bloodshed

- In 1940 Germany attacked Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Luxembourg, & Belgium


France fell in 1940

- France has a large army and weapons but doesn't know how to use new tactics
- Germans go around the Maginot line built by France
- France falls in 6 weeks
- Surrender is signed in a boxcar (the same boxcar that Germany had to sign the WWII armistice in --> for revenge purposes

- British armies went to go help France --> but now all are stuck because Germany occupies France

- German tanks hold off --> gives British soldiers time to be rescued by civilians on boats
