Hitler Territorial Expansion (nov 11, 1934 – sep 1, 1939)

Description:

Ignoring the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler secretly builds a new military

1936: Hitler takes the Rhineland (supposed to be a DMZ according to the Versailles Treaty)
- remainder of Europe lets this happen because they don't want war
- start the appeasement in hopes Germany is satisfied


Spring 1938: "Anscluss"
- Hitler annexes Austria (again breaking the Versailles Treaty)

Fall 1938: Hitler makes up stories about how ethnic Germans in Czechoslovakia are being treated badly --> Nazi invades Sudetenland

Spring 1939:
- Hitler takes the rest of Czechoslovakia
- Britain & France do nothing but say that if Germany moves into Poland, it will defend them
